Meet Our Physicians
Dr. Derek Surdez, MD
Dr. Surdez was born and raised in Sabetha, a small town in Northeast Kansas. He attended Kansas State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. Dr. Surdez went to medical school at the University of Kansas and completed his Family Medicine residency training at Via Christi in Wichita. His interest in medicine began during his father’s long battle with pancreatitis and grew into a compassion for the sick and suffering. He is passionate about Direct Primary Care because it allows him to build relationships with his patients, take time to really listen, and make sure all of their needs are addressed. Outside of medicine, some of Dr. Surdez’ passions include swimming in the ocean, making good coffee, listening to For King and Country, and spending quality time with his wife, Emma, their two children.
Dr. Ryan Woodruff, MD
Dr. Woodruff was born in Wichita and spent the majority of his childhood in Shawnee, Kansas. He graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest and then went to Pittsburg State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Dr. Woodruff attended the University of Kansas in Wichita and followed his medical degree with training in the Family Medicine specialty at Via Christi in Wichita. He decided to become a doctor in the third grade but ultimately joined the medical field to care for and love his neighbors. His passion for Direct Primary Care stems from his desire to take care of the whole person- mind, body, and spirit. Dr. Woodruff loves finding local adventures with his wife, Sarah, and their two children. He is also passionate about traveling the world to experience the beauty of creation.
